Replay: Tame Impala

Kevin Parker, Tame Impala what more can I say? To be honest, I came around a bit later to his music. My first time at Coachella was in 2015 and my buddy Mikey said there was one band we can’t leave without seeing. This was at a time when Tame Impala was the second-line headliner at Coachella and right before Currents released so the hype and future influence was not fully realized yet for me personally. Parliament-Funkadelic and Sly and the Family Stone are two of my favorite funk/psychadelic rock bands I should’ve recognized the influence. Later that year, I finally came around to the genius and joined the five year wait for his next album The Slow Rush. Also, I joined the “it’s not Rihanna’s song” miltia. It’s been cool hearing more collaborations between Tame Impala and other artists such as Blood Orange, Travis Scott, Thundercat, Theophilus London, and A$AP Rocky in the past few years. I hope there’s more to come.
The expansive and intricate sounds that define Tame Impala's stage presence are not just heard; they're felt. With Kevin Parker at the helm, producing every ethereal note, the band is not just performing; they're sculpting an atmosphere, a mood that's both a homage to the past and a bold step into the future of psychedelic music. Lasers and confetti? You just had to be there!
